Tyler Dail is the Head Routesetter and Head Coach at Aloha Rock Gym. When people ask Tyler what he likes to do, his go-to answer is, “I like climb rock.” It’s short and sweet, but if you stick around, he’ll more than make up for it. He’ll talk your ear off—especially if the topic is climbing. Tyler’s been pulling on plastic and real rock for over 17 years, growing up on the sandstone, granite, quartzite, and limestone around Salt Lake City.

Tyler’s coaching journey started as a way to get a free gym membership—but it didn’t take long for him to realize this was way bigger than perks. Watching climbers transform, conquer fears, and light up with confidence became his purpose, and he’s been hooked ever since. Tyler isn’t just teaching people how to send; he’s helping them discover what they’re capable of.

He also loves route setting, often calling it “creating puzzles with your body.” One of his life goals is to make sure no one can break his beta—but if you do, he wants to hear about it.

What started as a foot in the door into the climbing industry ultimately became his purpose and the way he gives back. If you see Coach Ty say hi—as long as you’ve got the time…
