Scott Odell is a co-founder, financial backer, and passionate climber at Aloha Rock Gym who focuses on community development, impact, and growth. He is responsible for helping steward the Kokua program in partnership with ARG's local non-profit partners, and he is also responsible for driving major initiatives across sales, marketing, and partnerships to ensure everyone gets a chance to get stoked on climbing!
Scott started rock and ice climbing in 2014 and regards climbing as a means of self-expression, adventure, and friendships. He immediately got involved as a volunteer with the Adaptive Climbing Group, a non-profit focused on empowering people with disabilities through adaptive indoor and outdoor climbing. Climbing quickly became way more about a way of serving others + creating positives ripples and connection.
He and his wife Kevalin were actively involved in the aftermath of the Maui wildfires, including fire debris work in Kula and relief supplies in Lahaina. They welcomed a Lahaina family of 7 to live with them for 2 years, and even got all the keiki hooked on climbing with a backyard climbing wall they built together.
Away from climbing, Scott is passionate about whole-food plant-based nutrition. He likes the philosophy that compassion fuels strength, occasionally answering to the nickname “vegan beefcake” despite preferring cupcakes at the crag. Don’t hesitate picking on him or spray beta. In return, he will probably try to make you a mac nut dirty matcha latte.
