Jeff Jackson is a Head Coach and Routesetter at Aloha Rock Gym. He has been climbing for 48 years and has made many first ascents across the U.S and worldwide. Some say his long flowing hair is the source of his powers, but we know otherwise—what fuels Jeff is pure passion. Jeff has guided clients on rock, ice, big walls like El Capitan and 6,000-meter peaks in Peru. But that still wasn’t enough climbing in his life… so he also writes about it for work. With over 500 published articles and 10 years as Editor of Rock and Ice Magazine, you might say he knows the subject.
Jeff has lived on Maui for 10 years where he works as an adjunct professor of English at U.H. Maui College. He lives in Makawao with his sons Kai and Isaac. Until recently he’d only had two dreams about celebrities. In one dream, he was playing harmonica with Willie Nelson. In another, he was rock climbing with Chris Sharma. But last night he dreamed that he was hugging Donald Trump who was dressed up as the pope. What does it mean? Jeff won’t think about it too much. He’ll just go climbing.
